Been going to Eagle River now for over 30 years and am always looking for a new place to try. The philly steak is not a true east coast philly as it has mozzarella cheese and mushrooms but it was very full of meat and very tastie! The homemade pizza is one of the best in the northwoods. I am anxious to try other items. The owner, Tori , was very friendly. The place gets busy but everything is nice and fresh!

While we often eat at the street fair in Eagle River whenever we come for a festival there, we passed up the usual vendors and tried House of Dogs for a change. Excellent food! Coming from the Chicago area, I can assure you a place like this would hold its own in the city amidst other worthy hot dog shops. They even use Vienna Beef hot dogs, just like the best places in the Chicago area do. We got there for a late lunch, so you can say we closed up the place at 3 PM. I got a chili dog, my wife had a Maxwell style (mustard & grilled onion) Polish sausage, and my kids had plain hot dogs and fries. The fries were both excellent and plentiful and we could have ordered a single serving, though we ate all that we got. While there's some counter space to eat inside, we had a picnic table next to the parking lot. The staff was very friendly and talkative, since there were few customers remaining when we got there. Inside, they have a wall of pictures of people's dog photos, after all, it is called House of Dogs. Great place to know about if you're from the Chicago area and are looking for a real Chicago style joint.

Best hot dog in Wisconsin by far! The beef needs a little attitude done to it. Not the best but still good. The fries we're very crispy and on the money. If you like basque the pork looked awesome, but did not try it!

Pretty good Italian Beef , and quite good fish on Friday. I am always happy with the above two items not sure about the hotdogs the gyros are good too.

A friendly, family owned place. The food is much better than the fast food stuff otherwise available. The Italian Beef is excellent, good enough for flatlanders to enjoy ;-) The cute dog pictures add to the sense of local charm. This is probaly my favorite place for a quick and satisfying bite to eat in Eagle River.

Great dogs in the Northwoods! I'm a long time Chicago hotdog fan and House of Dogs gets it right every time. Their Polish Chicago style is made just right. Also excellent on the menu is their Gyros and french fries. There are a lot of fast food chains now in Eagle River; ten years ago only Dairy Queen was around - but don't bother going to any of those places if HOD is open! It's small inside with few seats and a nice area for family seating is outside with covered tables. One wall inside is dedicated to photos of dogs of locals and visitors - many are very funny with dogs in all kinds of poses. But back to the food. They use only Vienna beef and the quality of their sandwiches is excellent. Enjoy!
